Many people love New Years for many different reasons. Personally, my favorite part of New Years is throwing parties with some of my closest friends, setting new yearly goals for myself, or just having a fresh start to the new year. Getting together with your friends on the night of New Year's Eve is always fun because you get to end the year with your friends and start a new one together. At the end of every year, I always like to think of all of my favorite memories I've had of that year and all of the positive things that have happened to me. A lot of people look forward to the New Year because they get to start over and accomplish something they have been putting off for a while. Everyone has had something not very great happen to them every year, whether it's small or big. To me, getting a fresh start always helps because I can put it behind me and forget about it and look forward to what's to come. Also, people like to set goals for themselves. Popular ones are things such as working out or losing weight, working harder at their job, or spending more time with their families and children. So for your New Year, make some resolutions for yourself, and stick to them!
After Thanksgiving, before you know it, the wonderful Christmas holiday season begins. Every one knows Christmas can be one of the most hectic times of the year, but also one of the most festive. There are many things people do in order to prepare to spend the holiday with friends and family. Shopping for presents, putting up decorations, making cookies and other holiday treats, are just a few of the things that go into making Christmas special for so many people . Every family has their own holiday traditions, such as decorating the tree together and exchanging gifts with one another. Shopping for gifts for your loved ones can be one of the many things people tend to get too caught up in. They are so bothered on trying to please everyone around them with costly presents that they may not necessarily need instead of focusing on what may matter most. Spending time with family and loved ones can be one of the greatest gifts of all. Christmas can become so commertialized for adults and children. When little kids see commertials on T.V. of a new toy they want, that's all they seem to care about and look forward to for weeks. While making Christmas lists for Santa can seem fun and exciting, many tend to get upset when they don't receive everything they asked for. Which in turn, will make the adults sad, as they may not be able to afford expensive items and get everything their children want. Christmas is not all about the money and presents. It should be about spending quality time with one another and really appreciating everything you already have. Christmas is a time of giving to the ones you care about, not asking for what you always want. This year, make the Christmas season about trying to please others, instead of trying to please yourself.
Thanksgiving is known to be a time of friends, family, food, and football. Everyone has their own traditions; whether it's eating as much food as you can until your stomach hurts, to spending quality time with friends and family, or just sitting around relaxing and watching the game. My favorite part about Thanksgiving is eating a great turkey dinner and sitting around the table laughing and telling stories with my family. As crazy as some people may think, I love going out to stand in the cold lines in order to get the best Black Friday deals. But Thanksgiving is not all about rushing through dinner with your family to go meet up with your friends to go shopping. You should take the time to really appreciate the little things you have in life and everything you are thankful for. Some people don't even get a nice dinner, or at the very least, get to see their families. My family and I always go around the table and say three things we are thankful for, and that's what I love the most. So this Thanksgiving, really take the time to understand the true meaning of the holiday.
